    Son's Island Getaways is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

    Standards We Follow

    Our website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide array of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological needs.

    Measures We Take

    • Semantic HTML and clear heading structure across every page
    • Alt text on meaningful images
    • Keyboard-navigable menus, forms, and interactive components
    • Sufficient color contrast for text and UI elements

    Known Limitations

    We rely on a few embedded third-party services that we do not directly control:

    • Checkfront booking widgets — used for reservations. If you have trouble booking online, we are happy to take your reservation by phone.
    • Embedded Google Maps — driving directions are also provided in plain text on each property page.
    • Embedded YouTube videos — captions are enabled where available.

    What to Expect at Each Property

    Our six properties sit in different natural settings, so accessibility on the ground varies. We share these notes so you can plan with confidence and call us with questions before you book.

    • Son's Island — Lakeside paths on Lake McQueeney include some grassy and gravel sections; the dock area is reachable by a short paved walkway.
    • Son's Blue River Camp — Compact 8-acre layout in Kingsbury with gravel parking, a level main lawn, and a shaded path to the San Marcos riverbank. River entry includes a short natural slope.
    • Son's River Ranch — 150 acres with wide ranch roads between gathering areas. Most cabanas and BBQ pavilions have golf-cart access; ask about drop-off close to your unit.
    • Son's Geronimo — Our most amenity-rich property, with paved walkways between many Birdhouse Cabins, the pools, and the main lodge. Several cabins have step-free entries — please request one when you book.
    • Son's Rio Cibolo — A larger 100-acre property near Marion. Cabin clusters have firm gravel paths; the spring-fed creek is reached by a short natural-grade trail.
    • Son's Guadalupe — Private river access via a short stairway down to the water. Seating areas above the river are level and shaded.

    Service Animals

    Trained service animals are welcome at every Son's Getaways property at no extra charge. Emotional support animals follow our standard pet policy — please review the pet rules on our FAQs page and let us know in advance so we can place you in a pet-friendly unit.

    Mobility, Hearing & Vision Support

    • Phone booking with a live agent — If our online booking system is hard to navigate, call (877) 577-7667 and we'll complete your reservation with you.
    • Large-print confirmations — Available on request. We can also resend confirmations as plain-text email if a screen reader handles that better.
    • Written check-in instructions — Provided ahead of arrival so guests with hearing differences don't have to rely on a verbal hand-off at the gate.
    • Accessible parking — Available near cabins and main gathering areas at every property. We'll reserve a spot when you mention it at booking.
    • Quiet check-in windows — If sensory load is a concern, ask about a mid-week or off-peak arrival time.
